Good luck to Taxi Ely!

Just wanted to wish good luck to the guys over at www.taxiely.co.uk its a brand new website dedicated to promoting conversation around public transport in the Ely area, predominantly Taxis’s!.

I like the idea of local niche websites being there to promote conversation at local level, can only be a good thing with regards to keeping the standards of passenger transport high. They also have deals on which is what interested me initially as I am off to London on a regular basis these days.

So if you get a moment – pop over and say hi to the guys at taxi Ely, they have supported a competition that we have run on the radio station called cash cab which I really appreciate.

Taxi Ely will earn about 10p for every ticket they sell so I thought it only fair I share their link in case you need any tickets – they are going to have to sell a lot lol !

You are More likely to have twins than click on a website banner ad

I recently came across some stats that will put fear into the heart of marketers pedalling the use of website banner ads. The reality is that people just dont click them. Through my own personal experience of using these types of advertising I thought this was the case and have never had any kind of worthwhile response from them, the danger is that you then spend a lot of time re-working the content and style or message of the ad to try and increase response. I just believe this kind of investment is futile. People have become blinkered to the banner ads, they are an irritant in many cases, making the page load more slowly and many of them having tacky flash animations or blinking away to try and attract your attention like a salmon fisherman tempting his prey to the fly!

Finally some facts and figures that made me smile. You are 40 times more likely to give birth to twins than to click on a banner ad, or 31 times more likely to win the lottery and my personal favourite – 475 times more likely to survive a plane crash than click on a banner ad.

Storybranding© is a word that seems to personify a lot of what has been proven to bring success in the world of Social Media marketing and so, I have decided to copyright the term and make it my own!
